Tissainayagam Sentenced To 20 Years And Pardoned by President, Exiled

A senior journalist J. S. Tissainayagam who was detained by the Terrorism Investigation Division(TID) of the Sri Lanka Police on 7 March 2008, without charge 6 months and produced to High Court in Colombo. In August 31, 2009, he was convicted of the charges by the Colombo High Court and sentenced to 20 years. In May 3,2010, Tissainayagam was pardoned by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on World Press Freedom Day. Photo by Buddhika Weerasinghe
